I wrote about the shepherds on the home page. Now, I want to ask you something – you’ve heard the message of the shepherds – maybe many times. Here’s the question – Have you marveled? You see, the Bible tells us that all who heard the shepherds give their testimony “marveled at the things that were told them.” (Luke 2:18).
As I think about the message of the heavenly host the evening of the birth of Jesus, this phrase always jumps out to me:
“Glory to God it the highest, and on earth, peace, goodwill towards men.”
That word means to wonder, to be struck with astonishment. Have you marveled? Have you ever thought in wonder – with amazement – that the King of Heaven – the Creator of the Universe – would come to earth to give His life for you, so that you did not have to pay the punishment for sin? That’s what we’ll be talking about on Sunday mornings in December, so join us. Come to marvel!
Have you ever marveled at the love that led Jesus to let Himself be taken and nailed to the cross? Have you ever looked with amazement as Jesus healed the sick and restored sight to the blind? Have you ever been astonished when hearing the words of Jesus Christ – “I am the way, the truth and the life.” Have you ever stared with awe at the birth when a little baby is born? Have you ever marveled at someone going through incredible suffering with hope and joy? Have you wondered how that is possible? Have you ever just looked up in the nighttime sky and thought “wow”?
God calls us to marvel – He wants to display His Glory. Take time to marvel!
