A simple verse – a simple command – from Psalm 37:4:
“Delight yourself also in the Lord,”
Do we do that? As I pondered in this verse, it occurred to me that delighting oneself in the Lord is foreign to many people who profess to have “religion.” What a joy they are missing. To some, they see their religion as a mere custom, duty, or necessity. It may be a burden. Some practice their religions out of fear of doing otherwise, and some for some type of gain.
But believers who know Jesus Christ understand that delight and faith are intertwined – they cannot be separated. Those who have a personal relationship with Christ will find that His ways are pleasant and peaceful, humbling, and full of mercy, without fear and without bondage.
A relationship with Jesus Christ – as opposed to merely being religious – brings a joy that surpasses all understanding. It allows us to delight in the Lord.
If you are not “delighting” in the Lord, come see us at Maple Grove. We’d love to open this truth to you, so that you can decide to have that joyful, freeing relationship with our Creator, Lord and Savior.
God Bless!
