It’s time to start a new school year. I wanted to take this opportunity to urge all Christians to pray for all our schools, the teachers, the students, and the staff. We live in challenging times, but God remains in control. We as Christians should pray each day for all those associated with teaching our children, and our children themselves.
What should we pray? Let me suggest this prayer based on Colossian 1:1-9 for the teachers and staff:
Lord, we ask You that the teachers and staff in our schools be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that they may walk worthy of You, fully pleasing You, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of You. Father, may You strengthen them to follow you with all might, according to Your glorious power, protect them, and grant them patience and longsuffering with joy. May you give them a light that shines to the students, so that the students may know that You are God, and that they may see You in the lives of these school authorities, and be drawn to You.
Here’s a prayer for the student based upon John 8:32 and Job 1:10:
Lord, our children are in Your hands. Keep them safe, not only physically but spiritually, as new ideas are presented to them, that they may know the truth. Give them a discerning spirit. Father, Your Word is truth, Your Word promises that the truth can set men, women and children free. Lord, sink truth into our children, so that they may stand against false doctrines and lies, and stand up for principles they know are right. Please teach them to respect the authorities You have placed in their lives, whether it be parents, or teachers, that You may be glorified. And Lord God, may they honor their fathers and mothers in all things, as You have commanded, so that life may be added to them.
Remember, God loves each and every one of you, and He wants you to come closer to Him and know Him better. So, come join us. We hope to see you at Maple Grove!
