As we enter the Advent season, I am so excited. This is a special time of year as we come together to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. There’s so much for you to be involved in this year. There’s nothing to put you in the true Christmas spirit better than giving of yourself in the service of the Lord. On Christmas day many years ago, God gave us the greatest gift anyone could give – His Son Jesus who would die on the cross so that we could have eternal life. Honor Him this Christmas by giving of …. yourself. As the Bible tells us, the reasonable response to recognizing what Jesus has done for us is to present ourselves in a sacrificial way for Him to use to His Glory. Romans 12:1.
So, how would that look this December? Well, you could always attend Sunday morning worship (with Sunday School), where we’ll obviously focus on the coming of Jesus. We’ll have special Wednesday night “Because You Asked” series on Christmas themed questions. The Christmas topics came from the congregation and are really going to be fun.
And of course, you wouldn’t want to miss the Children’s Program on the 12th. It’s going to be very special. The kids (and those adults to whom we owe many thanks for organizing, guiding, providing lunches, etc.) have been working hard to make this an experience which will reinforce the true meaning of Christmas. Then, on December 15th at 6 P.M. we’ll be putting together fruit baskets and food boxes for those in need so that they can see God’s love in action. Remember, to be shown, love must act.
We’ll have something special on Sunday evening, December 19th @ 6 P.M. This will be an event for the whole family. What is it? You have to come to Church to find out!
And finally, you’ll would want to attend the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, which will remind us all of the light that came into the World and also of our privilege regarding that light. Come and see how the Light of the World chases away the darkness.
Merry Christmas! How wonderful it is to share this holiday with such a special congregation. I hope that you will take the time to worship with us over the holidays, and
participate in the special events that help our church celebrate this blessed season. If you’ve been away from Church for a while, because of COVID or other issues, this is the time to return. It’s the time to praise God and remember the angel’s words to the shepherds. “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.” Luke 2:10. The best news of all – our God still reigns! That angelic message is just as valid today as it was 2000 years ago.
I wish you a very blessed holiday season.
