Whew – July was a busy month here at Maple Grove, but we thank God for all the blessings He bestowed, and for all the opportunities He presented for us to be of service, as that is a form of worship to Him.
But, it’s August. School is starting. Things are getting back on a regular schedule. Slowing down a little, right? Oh, not the situation at your house? Well, truthfully, not at mine either.
So I just want to take this opportunity to remind everyone that God wants to be first – or maybe the better word is preeminent – in our lives. Our Heavenly Father does not want us to put anything before Him, and that would include school, work or, yes, even SEC college football. You see, those things can become idols in our lives. They may not be little statutes sitting on top of our televisions, but anything we put before God in our lives does act like an idol, because it draws attention away from Him. So, be mindful of all the things that are coming up on your busy family schedule – but always remember to make time for God first.
We try to help you do that here at Maple Grove. We’ve started a new time of fellowship with light breakfast foods and beverages at 9:45 every Sunday morning. That’s 15 minutes before Sunday School – so you can get here, get a quick bite, then be ready for Sunday School and Worship Service. Mid-week, we have a Prayer time, followed by small group Bible study on Wednesday nights starting at 6 P.M. That’s followed by a time of fellowship and dinner. So, join us for that time.
We hope to see you at Maple Grove!
