America the Beautiful

“O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain,

For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain!

America! America! God shed His grace on thee,

And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea!.”

These words were written by Katherine L. Bates.  We just returned from Colorado, and specifically Pike’s Peak, which was the inspiration for Katherine Bates writing this wonderful poem, which became the song “America the Beautiful.”  The mountains still look purple – it was really amazing to see that view – the same view that she saw all those years ago.  But what is more exciting is that she recognized the beauty of this land was from God. It is not only the physical beauty of America that came form God, but it is also America’s freedom.

This Sunday we will celebrate our country’s freedom and thank God that we live in a place where we are free to come together and worship Him. Folks, we will talk about the faith of our founding fathers – and you will see this country was truly founded on Biblical principles. Today’s false history and false narrative would have us believe that the United States was founded by a bunch of men who gave no thought to the truth, and who were not godly men. Were they perfect?  No, not one of them, but you will see that they worshiped God, and gave Jesus Christ His place in their hearts. You will see that God’s Word was translated into the principles that formed the backbone of our laws and were supposed to be the principles upon which our entire society was based.

So many of us take that freedom for granted – but the Bible tells us we have to use our freedom and liberty, not just sit back in self-indulgence and complacency.

Won’t you and your family join us Sunday, July 4, 2021, and exercise the freedom we have to come to church and worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
