Resurrection Sunday (some call it Easter) comes on April 20th this year. This year, we’re looking at the sacrifice Jesus made on Good Friday, and the joy of His Resurrection on that Sunday.
Our focus this year is on understanding how Jesus fulfilled the prophecy of the Old Testament as He entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and how He celebrated Passover with His disciples. Did you know that Jesus is described as being “our Passover?” We’ll spend some time learning about and experiencing Passover as His disciples would have understood it. What did Passover commemorate? How does Jesus complete the Passover? Why is he called our Passover Lamb?
Understanding all that Jesus did leading up to the Cross and beyond will help you appreciate the Lord ‘s Gift of Grace even more, so I invite you – and urge you to bring friends, relatives, co-workers, neighbors, “that guy from Wal-Mart” – anyone – to our Resurrection Sunday themed celebrations this month. Check out the Calendar, but here’s how we will worship our Passover Lamb, who takes away the sin of the World this month:
Saturday April 12 @ 1 P.M. – Resurrection Sunday Youth Celebration @ Maple Grove. We’ll have an egg hunt, but more importantly, Bible themed activities, a Children’s Gospel presentation that should be one to remember, and special musical guests.
Sunday, April 13 @ 10 A.M. Sunday School followed by Worship Service @ 11 A.M. – The topic: “Jesus: Our Passover Lamb”
Thursday, April 17 @ 6 P.M. – The Passover Seder Meal (just like Jesus celebrated with His disciples) will be celebrated at Maple Grove, along with the Lord’s Supper. We’ll look deeply at the true meaning of the Passover as we prepare to remember the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the Cross.
Sunday, April 20 @ 10 A.M. Sunday School followed by Worship Service @ 11 A.M. – the topic: Jesus: Our Redeemer.
What an opportunity to “Lift Jesus Higher” as we Glory in His resurrection. Don’t miss a minute.
I look forward to seeing you all at Maple Grove.
