That may be an understatement. We’ve kicked off a Mission focused year with an outreach to CareNet. This month, we’ll welcome the “The Little Choir” from Asian South Korea as part of a soup and food drive to benefit the Dickson Help Center. It’s February 1 at 6 P.M. All are welcome, and if you are able, bring a can of soup of package of Ramen Noodles for the help center. We have members going on a mission trip to Ecuador, and members leading the youth to Winter Jam. We’ll have the Youth Valentine’s Banquet on Saturday, February 10 at 5 P.M. It will be a treat, and all offerings will be used to help the Youth in either summer camp or mission projects.
Obviously prayer is one thing we ask all our church family to engage in, but these other activities provide an opportunity for you to get involved and serve others. These opportunities bring a verse to my mind, and that is Galatians 6:10:
“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
You have opportunities for service – opportunities to honor God through your time and effort. All of these opportunities are “organized,” and that is not a bad thing. But, keep in mind that each and every day will present you with an unexpected opportunities to honor God, and to bring Him Glory. Is there someone who needs a helping hand today? Do you have a friend who needs to see the love of God through a call, a card, or a cup of coffee? Does a brother or sister need encouragement?
Opportunity comes in all shapes and sizes. Don’t miss it – and remember to do good when you have the opportunity.
